It’s easy, it’s convenient and it costs you NOTHING!

giftcardsWhat is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money.” When you purchase the gift cards sold through the SJR Scrip program, you are purchasing negotiable gift cards that are used just like cash. The retailers we purchase from want to support non-profit organizations and offer us a discount on the cards. We pass part of that savings on to you in the form of Scrip vouchers. You save money on tuition by making purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, and gifts can be purchased with Scrip.

Are the gift cards easy to use at the store?
Absolutely! They are used just like cash. Kohl’s gift cards are even valid for paying your bill. They make excellent gifts.

How does the tuition credit work?
Every time you purchase gift cards, you will instantly receive tuition credits. In most instances, the credits are worth $2.00 and are awarded for every $50 in purchases (4% of the sale). So, if you purchase $200 in gift cards, you will receive $8 toward your tuition.

For example, if you are making a payment of $250 and you accumulate $20 in credits, you write a check for $230. You just saved $20! They are also transferable. This allows friends, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to purchase gift cards and give the tuition credits to families with school children. The credits add up quickly so start buying today!!

How will I receive my tuition credit?
At the time of your sale, your rebate will be calculated.  The total will be reported to the Scrip Coordinators and Business Manager for recording on a weekly basis. Credits will be applied to each account automatically on a quarterly basis.  For example, Scrip earned between Jan – Mar will be credited in April.

Requests for Scrip tuition credits to be applied to your account prior to the automatic schedule can be emailed to Dorothy Aschenbrenner at daschenbrenner@stjstr.org at any time.

A note about credits:

Scrip retailers and information about rebates can be found on the  RaiseRight.com website. E-cards get the full rebate amount in tuition credit. Physical cards with a rebate of 4% or higher get 4% in tuition credit. For physical cards that offer 2-3% rebates, get 2% in tuition credit. Cards that offer less than 1% rebate do not qualify for tuition credit.

If you wish to have your scrip accrue, perhaps to reduce your payment around Christmastime, kindly email Dorothy Aschenbrenner at daschenbrenner@stjstr.org.  All scrip rebates will be applied to the final April payment each year unless otherwise discussed.
